Ann Likes Red
The familiar 1960s book, "Ann Likes Rd", once again takes young readers on a shopping trip with an independent youngster who doesn't want the blue dress, brown hat and tan sandals adults insist are so good for her. The book is by Dorothy Z. Seymour, now Dorothy Jane Mills.
Mills, under her previous pen name, is author of a number of books, from textbooks to fiction. She researched and helped write three major baseball histories, including the groundbreaking "Three Volume History of Baseball" with her late husband, Harold Seymour.
"Ann Likes Red" is one of the early reader books she wrote in the 1960s for Pitman Publishing Co., that wouldn't go away. When she learned women who read it as youngsters were still asking for it to read to their children last year, Purple House Press took on the project of publishing a new edition. It can be ordered through bookstores, via purplehousepress.com or at (817)428-6300.
