- Book Questions
We have two types of books. The first are books that we have printed traditionally with offset presses, these are the books we've been publishing since 2000. The second type are print on demand and they are listed under the WORLDWIDE BOOKS collection.
We stock small quantities of the WORLDWIDE BOOKS so that we can ship them to you with the rest of the books we've been publishing for over 20 years.
All of our print-on-demand chapter books use the same trim size (the size of the page), which is 6x9 so that our books match as much as possible.
It's not practical to try to match the size of the original book, many older books have what are now considered to be a custom trim size that is not offered by our printers.
There's also the fact that each print-on-demand company uses different heights for the hardcover boards, so even though the page size is the same, books from different printers won't match perfectly.
We know this because each printer requires a new file for the case, the paper that is laminated and glued to the boards, because of different board height, board width and spine width.
Our color print-on-demand picture books so far are either 6x9 or 8x10. I have at least one book in mind for the future that will be 7x10.
We hope you'll enjoy having access to these books, previously unicorns, at affordable prices. Our new editions will bring down the price of used copies if you need one to match the old book's size.
If “Slightly revised” is on the copyright page of one of our books it means we’ve replaced some words which are considered divisive at this time, even though they were considered to be fine at the time the text was written. Or they could be words whose meanings have changed over the years—we replace them so you don't have to switch them out on the fly when you're reading aloud to your children. We also take out references to tobacco if it leaves the essence of the story unchanged. If found, typos in the original text are corrected. This happens more frequently than you might think!
We consider these revisions to be minor and do not keep a list of changes per book. For purists, the original books are still out there and are cheaper now that we’ve reprinted them.
Bargain books are 55-75% off! They have been returned to us from our wholesaler and have bumps or blemishes, but no major problems. Bargain books make nice reading copies to give to your children and have remainder marks, which means they were sold at a discount.
Quantities are limited. If no copies are in stock, try checking back occasionally because we update quantities as more become available.
Bargain books may be returned, but with thousands sold it hasn’t happened once since 2000.
No, unfortunately we don’t. There are too many old books that we want to revive.
The only exception has been the few times we’ve published a new sequel to one of our author’s books from decades ago. We did this for The Mad Scientists’ Club series, the Alvin Fernald series and Pickle-Chiffon Pie.
Send us an email, a facebook message or a suggestion on our contact form. We’re happy to learn about the books people are looking for and remember from their childhood.
Yes we will consider anything but picture books. Please send us more information by email, including any awards your book has won. If we need more information we will get back to you, but please remember we cannot return review copies unless you include a stamped, addressed return mailer. Thank you.
