Beautiful Stories from Shakespeare

Fall release. Famed author, E. Nesbit reproduces the might and majesty of twenty of Shakespeare's stories in clear, simple language so that children will understand and enjoy them. Shakespeare's plays have won the admiration of readers the world over for centuries. His plays are testaments to the deepest themes of human life: life and death, love and loss, the individual versus the greater good. First published in 1907, this book comes with numerous, original black and white line drawings by Max Bihn. After looking at his drawings, I realized that the full page plates were after (copies of) other various artists. So for those I went to the source and am including the original artists work, such as Frances Brundage's 1890 painting of Titania and the Clown, and Wilhelm von Kaulbach's 1856 engraving of Ferdinand and Miranda. Their original art can be reproduced much more clearly now with high res scans, rather than an image taken from a 1907 printing of the book.  The stunning cover is by Arthur Rackham, painted in 1908. It portrays Titania playing with the Indian prince whom she dearly loves, from Act II, Scene I, of A Midnight Summer's Dream. If you'd like to see the Table of Contents with the twenty stories that are included, please take a look at the sample pages above. The page numbers will be added as I complete chapters of the book!  😂 Unabridged.
